A Brief History of R.J. Lewis

The 1970s

R.J. started his career as a street-performer, literally taking his act to the streets. He drew crowds of hundreds with his captivating performances, leaving them in awe with tricks and illusions that seemed to defy logic. His hard work and dedication paid off, as he was awarded the prestigious International Beaux Arts award for excellence in magic not once but twice - in 1979 and 1980.

The 1980s

Broadway came calling in the 1980s and he joined the company of the hit show, BARNUM. With over 832 shows under his belt, R.J. quickly became a master of juggling, plate spinning, and stilt-walking, captivating audiences night after night.
But the excitement didn't stop there. After the end of the show, R.J. took his talents to ROGER MINAMI'S HEATWAVE at the Resorts International Casino Hotel in Atlantic City and went on the perform at every casino in Atlantic City.

The 1990s

In the 1990s, R.J. expanded his reach to work with other entertainers and run interactive entertainment programs at top casinos like Trump’s Castle and Showboat. His expertise in costume design and makeup techniques made him a sought-after performer at private events. He was part of the Broadway show THE HIGH ROLLERS and was a member of the cast of BUSKER ALLEY which starred Tommy Tune.

The 2000s

In the 2000s, R.J. was featured at numerous high-end parties, appearing in Bar Mitzvahs, Fund-Raisers, and was in tremendous demand with his many costumes and characters.
In the 2000s, R.J. was in such high demand that he was booked for countless appearances and performances. One particularly special moment was when he performed at the 2002 Winter Olympics for Coca-Cola, wowing thousands of fans from around the world. He presented his one-man show, STAGE STRUCK, at the Society Hill Playhouse in Philadelphia.

The 2010s

R.J. went on to be in two multi-award-winning films. In BEYOND BELIEF and DOWN IN FLAMES, R.J. showcased his acting prowess and won accolades for his incredible performances. With DOWN IN FLAMES, R.J. not only played the lead but also co-wrote the story, making it a truly memorable production.
But R.J.'s talents don't just end at acting...in 2016, he stunned audiences on Princess Cruises with his magic, singing and dancing skills in the show MAGIC TO DO. R.J. played the lead and mesmerized thousands of passengers weekly with his incredible performances.

And into the future

Despite his many years in the entertainment industry, R.J. still hasn't lost his edge. He brings a fresh and exciting energy to every event where he performs and never fails to amaze and amuse his audience with his awe-inspiring tricks and hilarious sense of humor.
But the years have caught up with him and R.J. is retiring in January 2026
